    Description

OFFERED ... an elegant silverplate casserole server with lid by Reed & Barton, Renaissance pattern #1174.  It is heavy silver plate with a ribbed surface on exterior and interior; interior ribbing is more fine; the hallmark "Reed & Barton ... 1174" is found on the interior.  The decorative relief band on the bottom of the server includes variations of devil/satyr faces or masks within The server rests on four substantial bun feet.  Originally the server came with a white ironstone pottery insert by Hall Pottery; unfortunately, it is not included here.   It measures 7 1/2" in width (interior diameter ... size for needed insert).  It measures 10" in width including handles; 5 5/8" in height (excluding lid w/finial).
This piece would also complement the "Italian" pattern also designed by Austin Frederick Jackson.
The server is in very good pre-owned vintage condition with minor surface wear.  It has had a cursory cleaning by me; further polishing is left to discretion of the buyer.
WEIGHT:  2 pounds, 3 ounces without packaging
FYI:  While the "Renaissance" design patent date is 1886, I am unsure of when the server was manufactured by Reed & Barton.
