Brief History:
Sheriff Ron Hickman began his career in law enforcement after graduating from the Houston Police Department Training Academy in June of 1971. Ron Hickman was appointed as the current Sheriff of Harris County Texas on May 12th, 2015 with a unanimous vote by the Harris County Commissioners court. Sheriff Ron Hickman comes to the post of Sheriff having served as Constable of the largest Constables Office in the United States, Harris County Precinct 4 Constables Office from 2001 to May 12th, 2015. Sheriff Hickman served the Houston Police Department as an Underwater Search and Recovery Officer, a Bomb Squad Technician, and later in the Planning and Research Division. Throughout the years Sheriff Hickman was exposed to a variety of law enforcement assignments during in his law enforcement career.
Sheriff Hickman was most likely the first person to utter the words "ALL LIVE MATTER" back during an emotional press conference he gave six years ago in August 2015 after the ambush and brutal murder of Deputy Sheriff Darren Goforth. That was back when the BLM movement began gaining momentum and Sheriff Hickman was simply trying to convey a message of unity without color qualification and denounce the senseless murder of his Deputy.
This coin is a scarce and a very hard to come by variety of Sheriff's Office challenge coins. The coin has never been circulated and remains inside the original protective clear vinyl envelope. Inasmuch it is in excellent condition. The coin is made out of a heavy gold colored base metal and is deeply imprinted and embossed on both sides. The coin has beautiful details and multiple colors that brilliantly highlight the Sheriff's current issued badge on one side centered atop a brilliantly shiny silver colored background and an image of a multi-colored uniform patch on the reverse. The coin measures approximately 1.75" in diameter and is approximately 1/8" thick.
The front side of the coin features
a highly polished gold colored deeply embossed current issued Sheriff's Office badge design set atop a shiny pebbled textured silver colored background. Surrounding the badge is the following information "
SHERIFF RON HICKMAN
" on the top half of the coin and "
HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS
" on the bottom half.
The reverse side of the coin features a colorful image of the current issued uniform patch centered atop
a shiny pebbled textured silver colored background. The patch design is encircled with Sheriff's Hickman's famous quotes "
ALL LIVES MATTER
" and "
TAKE THAT TO THE BANK
".
The challenge coin has scalloped edging around the entire circumference of both sides of the coin and has a beautiful shiny gold colored smooth edge which can be verified in the description photos.
